Skuttlers (ボックン Bokkun) are Underworld enemies that debuted in Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Physical Appearance

The Skuttler is a purple monster with four limb-like tentacles, and a large skull for a head. It has a single red eye, and dark crossbones on its forehead. While in battle, it is equipped with a bone club and a skull-shaped shield.

Types

  • Skuttlers: The standard type of Skuttler, these enemies only use the bones they wield to attack.
  • Skuttler Cannoneers: Armed with cannons, Skuttler Cannoneers fire at foes from a distance.
  • Skuttler Mages: The magic-based type of Skuttler, Skuttler Mages cast spells on their opponents.
  • Suit of Skuttlers: The defensive type of Skuttler, Suit of Skuttlers hide themselves in bulky armor.
  • Aurum Skuttlers: Aurum copies of the standard Skuttler.
  • Cellular Skuttlers: Cellular versions of the standard Skuttler.

Appearances

Kid Icarus: Uprising

Being one of the most simplistic enemies in the game, the Skuttler only has one strategy: to attack its opponents using the bone it wields. It has two techniques for achieving this—it may strike at its foes vertically, or strike them horizontally. However, they topple over themselves when they use the latter technique, leaving them vulnerable.

Kid Icarus 3D Anime

The Skuttler makes a brief appearance in Thanatos Rising.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U

Skuttlers appear as enemies in the multiplayer feature Smash Run. Defeating them grants the player power-ups.

Trophy Information

Skuttler3DStrophy
Skuttlers make no bones about coming up to you and swinging their clubs right at your face. The bigger the swing, the more it'll hurt. They act tough, and they do have a lot of health, but any strong attack from you will send them tumbling. Their shields are just for show, too. Our advice: throw them or whack them in the back.

Idol Description

Skuttler

These basic troops form the backbone of the Underworld Army. Simpleminded creatures, Skuttlers tend to forget any mishaps they suffer but also quit when the going gets tough. Yet they're still valued for their low cost and versatility.

Trivia

  • The Skuttler may draw its English name from the words "scuttle" and "skull."
    • Alternatively, it may draw its name from the scuttling gangs that were formed during the late 19th century.
